Neuropsychological performance evaluation of convicted of murder and simple aggravated murder

This comparative descriptive study of transverse section, characterized the neuropsychological performance of 80 men held in a medium-security prison, convicted of homicide (manslaughter 40 and 40 aggravated murder). Aged 18-55 years (X = 33.75 SD = 7.6). Brief Neuropsychological Battery (NEUROPSI), giving an overall measure of cognitive activity was used. The results were analyzed using non-parametric tests (Mann-Whitney U and Chi2), least significant differences in the performance of the two groups were observed; the group of aggravated murder remained below the group of manslaughter; relationship between low neuropsychological performance and homicidal behavior including damages in higher cognitive functions, especially in executive functions was found.Downloads
